Feel ready for your therapy session…

  • It is usually a big decision to start therapy and to share the significant issues you are struggling with. More than likely, if you could resolve it yourself, or with someone close, you probably would have.

However, beginning to share what has been really difficult and emotionally charged with someone who is not involved in your life in any other way, and is deeply attentive and respectful, is usually relieving and taking a huge step towards resolving the difficulty.

Sessions begin by hearing about the primary concerns and most desirable outcomes. Further questioning and listening helps these become clearer and get to the real crux of the issue. From here there are many creative and even fun ways to experiment and resolve the central difficulty. One of the unique aspects of Process Work (my primary therapeutic modality) are the tools which allow a creative and multi-dimensional way of working with problems.

  • A course of 6 therapy sessions is recommended as a beginning, with the first 3 sessions spaced weekly. This may vary according to the complexity, pervasiveness and longevity of the concerns. Six sessions is usually adequate to resolve a short term complaint and gain some insight into how this may have arisen in the context of the current situation and personal history.

  • I think most people have a subjective experience or knowing whether something is overall going well or doing them good. I also help clients identify their goals and they get a sense of progress when they’re meeting these goals and/or feeling better within themselves and about their lives.
